Chicago proper support group?
Hi fellow Illinoisans! In today's roll call, Deb suggested that I pose the above question as a new post. Even though I live on the northside of Chicago, I had my RNY surgery on 7/29 in NYC because my Aunt could take care of me there post-op. The thing is, I don't have a support group here bec of having the surgery elsewhere so I was wondering if any of you could suggest a group I could join here in the city? I contacted the nutritionist at Rush-Pres, but her support group hasn't started yet & I'm looking for some feedback on adjusting better to moving on from the purees and protein shakes. I'd appreciate any leads you can give me! Thanks so much!

Hi Nina, Welcome to the Illinois board. You might want to call some of the other hospitals in the area to see if they have a support group you could join. Or do you have a doc for any follow up care you may need.. he might be able to help. I would think any of the hospitals that have a Bariatric Program should have info on support groups.
good luck to you and welcome, Paulette

Hi There,
Call Evanston Hospital they have one there.
Also call Swedish Covenant has one.
I have been to the one in Hoffman Estates when I was living in Chicago 18 months ago.
Dr Woodrum office runs the one in Hoffman Estates and at Evanston. Anyone can go to it.
I forgot when it meets.
Carla
I knowthat the one at Northwestern is only for their exclusive patients.
